These booklets are printed, saddle stapled (two staples on the spine), then folded, then trimmed. The sizes showing are the “finished size”, the size after the folding is done. Therefore a 5.5″ x 8.5″ booklet opens up to be 11″ x 8.5″ …. and a 8.5″ x 11″ booklet opens up to be 17″ x 11″.
